RSS Recognized My Abilities As A Christian: Prof. C I Issac, A Historian Who Has Received A Padmashri
Prof. C. I. Issac, a historian, and Padmashri honoree stated that he has advised the NCERT to substitute the term “classical India” for “ancient India” in textbooks.
In accordance with the National Education Policy 2020, Isaac also serves as the chair of the focused group for social sciences in charge of creating a national curricular framework. He told reporters on January 27 that the British divided Indian history into three periods: ancient, or Hindu India; medieval, or Muslim India; and modern, or British India.
In addition, Isaac suggested using “Bharat” rather than “India” when referring to the nation during the pre-Independent era. He also suggested projecting the Preamble of the Constitution in the local vernacular on school compound walls and in classrooms.
Issac joined the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) in 2015 after retiring as the director of the history department at CMS College.
The names of 387 Moplah rebels from the 1921 Moplah revolt, including Variyamkunnath Kunjahammad Haji and Ali Musliyar, have been recommended for removal from the list of 600 or so freedom fighters associated with the rebellion by the three-person ICHR panel led by Issac. Issac claimed that certain people are consciously attempting to portray Variyamkunnath as a freedom fighter. The names of 387 Moplah insurgents, he added, were based on documented historical events.
He claimed that the recent BBC documentary controversy was purposefully sparked by the production of the film. He noted that it was prohibited in universities in light of the law and order situation.
He said that during his time as a professor, he had experienced prejudice because of his political views. He asserted that he is living proof that RSS is not anti-religious. He went on to say that the RSS was the organization that recognized my abilities as a Christian and supported me.
