Security Fortified for Putin’s State Visit in Delhi

News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee /3rd December 2025

The national capital has been transformed into a virtual fortress as authorities implement multi-layered security protocols ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two-day state visit. The extensive arrangements, which are critical for the 23rd India-Russia bilateral summit, follow a heightened state of alert prompted by a recent blast in the city.

Security deployment is massive, encompassing the Delhi Police, central security forces, paramilitary agencies, and specialized anti-terror squads. Key areas and official engagement venues are sealed off with barricades, and access is tightly restricted. Route sanitization and traffic diversions are rigorously enforced to ensure the secure movement of the high-profile Russian delegation.

A key component of the operation is the seamless coordination between Indian and Russian security personnel. Putin’s large delegation is accompanied by his personal guards, with Russian special forces integrated into the innermost security circle, working directly with Indian agencies.

To mitigate threats, particularly from the air, authorities have deployed anti-drone guns at strategic locations. Comprehensive aerial surveillance, including moving drone patrols and continuous technical intelligence, is being utilized to monitor the entire cityscape. On the ground, SWAT teams and Quick Reaction Forces are positioned to guarantee rapid response to any threat.

The robust security measures underscore the significance of the December 4-5 summit, which is set to focus on expanding cooperation in defense, energy, and trade between the two strategic partners.
