Several Employees Become Ill As A Cold Drink Production Facility Experiences Dangerous Gas Leaks

Following a poisonous gas leak on 21 November, several employees at a cold beverage production facility in Kolkata’s southern edge Kamalgazi district became ill, according to the police.
According to a senior police official, two firefighters who went to the scene to rescue the workers also became ill.
Ammonia is a caustic and irritating chemical that serves as the foundation for ammonium nitrate fertilizer. The nose, throat, and respiratory tract immediately burn when exposed to high levels of ammonia in the air. This may result in airway damage, bronchiolar and alveolar edema, and respiratory distress.
