Former Indian cricket star Shikhar Dhawan has officially signed up for the Legends League Cricket (LLC), just days after announcing his retirement from both international and domestic cricket. The LLC, which is scheduled to kick off its next season in September, will showcase a roster of retired cricketing legends competing in an engaging league format.

Dhawan’s illustrious career is marked by numerous accomplishments, including being named Player of the Tournament at the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Throughout his career, he amassed over 6,793 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs) with an impressive average of 44.1. Additionally, Dhawan scored 1,759 runs in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) at a notable strike rate of 91.35. His contributions to Indian cricket, particularly in the Indian Premier League (IPL), have cemented his status as a celebrated figure in the sport.

Dhawan’s decision to join the LLC reflects his ongoing passion for cricket, even after stepping away from the competitive scene. In his statement regarding his new venture, Dhawan expressed his excitement about this next chapter. “Embarking on this new journey with Legends League Cricket feels like the perfect transition after my retirement. My body remains well-conditioned for the demands of the game, and while I am content with my decision to retire, cricket is an inseparable part of my life. It will always be a part of me. I look forward to reuniting with my cricketing peers and continuing to entertain my fans as we create new memories together,” Dhawan remarked.

Raman Raheja, the Co-founder of LLC, welcomed Dhawan’s addition to the league with enthusiasm. “We are delighted to have Shikhar Dhawan join us. His experience and style will undoubtedly elevate the competition and captivate fans. We eagerly anticipate seeing him perform alongside other cricketing legends, enhancing our position as a premier platform for former cricketing greats,” Raheja stated.

Dhawan’s move to the LLC follows a trend where many retired cricketing superstars have joined the league, including notable names such as Aaron Finch, Martin Guptill, and Hashim Amla. The LLC provides a platform for these legendary players to showcase their skills once more and engage with fans in a competitive yet nostalgic environment.

The upcoming season of the Legends League Cricket is set to be an exciting one, with Dhawan’s participation adding to the allure of the league. As the LLC prepares to feature a lineup of cricketing greats, fans can look forward to watching these legends in action, continuing their love for the game and creating memorable moments on the field.
