EASTERN RAILWAY ELEVATES SECTIONAL SPEEDS AND ENHANCES SAFETY MEASURES FOR IMPROVED RAIL OPERATIONS

Kolkata, March 27, 2024 :Eastern Railway reaffirms its commitment to enhancing rail infrastructure and safety measures with significant advancements in track conditions and operational efficiency. Notably, the railway’s proactive efforts have led to notable improvements, including the elevation of sectional speeds and rectification of forced lay-outs at crossings, reflecting its dedication to providing a safer and more efficient rail network.

Eastern Railway’s commitment to improving track conditions is evident in its recent achievement of increasing sectional speeds. In February, the maximum sectional speed on the new third line between Rampurhat and Chatra in Howrah Division was elevated from 90 kmph to 110 kmph. This enhancement not only boosts operational efficiency but also signifies a significant step towards a safer rail network, enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers.

In addition to elevating sectional speeds, Eastern Railway has been actively addressing forced lay-outs at crossings, with nine (09) instances rectified in Sealdah and Malda Divisions during February alone. These efforts not only augment safety but also contribute to the overall improvement in train speeds, ensuring smoother and more reliable rail operations.
