Indian cricket stars Shubman Gill and Smriti Mandhana were the standout performers at the annual honours presented by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, as both players received top awards for their exceptional performances in international cricket.
Gill was presented with the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award for the 2023–24 season. The award recognises the best male international cricketer of the year and is regarded as one of the most significant individual accolades in Indian cricket. Gill earned the recognition following a series of consistent performances across formats, where he played several match-winning innings and established himself as a key member of India’s batting lineup.
Meanwhile, Mandhana created history by securing the top women’s honour for a record fifth time. With this achievement, she became the most decorated recipient in the history of the women’s category at the BCCI awards. Her remarkable consistency with the bat, particularly in One Day Internationals, played a major role in earning her the recognition once again.
