Sinaloan media outlet attacked among intra-cartel war

In the midst of a brutal conflict between the two largest factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, the reputable Sinaloan media site El Debate reported that gunmen fired bullets on its office building and many vehicles on Friday. According to the company’s social media posts, El Debate, which typically covers violent incidents in the northwest Sinaloa state, was targeted early on Friday morning. The attack, which did not result in any casualties, was being investigated by the local prosecutor’s office.
“Today the complaint for damages is going to be received,” Claudia Sanchez, the state prosecutor, told media.
Videos released by El Debate reveal gunshot pockmarks on the building’s exterior, and Sanchez claimed that at least four cars were damaged by bullets during the event. Who carried out the attack remains unknown. Since September 9, violence has increased in Sinaloa. when the Sinaloa Cartel’s two most potent factions clashed.Life in Culiacán, the state capital, has been disturbed by the daily shootouts; on certain days, schools have closed, and businesses have shortened their hours of operation.
According to Sánchez, there have been 172 killings and 209 kidnappings since the start of the conflict, with 27 people found dead and 72 people found alive.
On Friday, President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that she “condemns” the assault.
In an attempt to safeguard the populace, her government dispatched hundreds of soldiers to Sinaloa with powerful weaponry and armored vehicles, but the army have had difficulty putting an end to the carnage.
