News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 25th September 2025

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam Police on Wednesday searched the residence of Siddharth Sharma, the manager of late singer Zubeen Garg, as part of its ongoing probe into the artist’s sudden death. The search was carried out in the Datalpara locality of Guwahati, days after Garg’s demise in Singapore on September 19, which has drawn widespread public attention and speculation.

According to officials, the operation began in the morning with Crime Investigation Department (CID) personnel stationed outside the building for nearly two hours before entering the premises. Sharma’s residence is a three-bedroom flat on the third floor of a three-storey apartment building, where he and his family have been living since 2019.

The raid was conducted under magistrate supervision to ensure legal transparency. While authorities have not released details about what was recovered, the search is understood to be linked to inquiries into events surrounding Garg’s final days. Investigators are reportedly examining the roles of those close to the singer as part of the broader investigation.

Zubeen Garg, one of Assam’s most celebrated musicians, was undergoing treatment in Singapore when he passed away, leaving fans and the cultural community in shock. His death has sparked demands for clarity, prompting the Assam government to set up a special probe team to look into possible lapses or circumstances that may have contributed.

Police sources indicated that searches such as the one conducted at Sharma’s flat are aimed at gathering relevant evidence and verifying information related to the case. The SIT has stated that the investigation is ongoing and further actions will follow based on findings.
