SLOUCHING AT WORK CAN CAUSE SEVERE LONG TERM DAMAGE

When someone is slouching, they are inclined to sit or stand in a lethargic, drooping way. But this posture can seriously harm the spine; it can result in back pain, potbelly, joint degeneration, and spinal dysfunction.
The normal curve of the spine is changed when you slouch, which causes spinal misalignment. This imbalance puts more strain on the intervertebral discs and vertebrae, which may lead to chronic back discomfort or ruptured discs. In addition, bad posture can cause tension on the tendons, ligaments, and muscles that surround the spine, which can cause soreness and weariness in those muscles.
Extended periods of sitting with a hunched back might have an effect on the nervous system. The spinal cord, which is in charge of transferring messages from the brain to the body, is shielded by the spine. Nerve compression brought on by poor posture can produce symptoms like tingling and numbness, or in more extreme situations, reduced motor function.
Slouching limits the expansion of the lungs, reducing the amount of oxygen taken in and thus affecting focus and cognitive abilities. With time, problems including tension headaches and dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) may also be linked to poor posture.
