Rapper Snoop Dogg has drawn sharp criticism after making controversial comments about LGBTQ+ representation in films, particularly those aimed at children. During an appearance on the It’s Giving podcast, the 53-year-old musician recounted an incident when he took his grandson to watch Pixar’s Lightyear, which features a same-sex couple. Snoop said his grandson asked how two women could have a child together, a question that left him unsettled. He admitted the moment made him feel “scared to go to the movies” and argued that such themes are increasingly “being put everywhere.”

The remarks triggered widespread backlash online, with critics accusing the rapper of promoting outdated and insensitive views. Many pointed out that while Snoop expressed discomfort at explaining LGBTQ+ identities to a child, he has faced far more serious allegations in his personal life, including past criminal cases. Social media users highlighted the irony, questioning his priorities and criticizing his lack of acceptance.

This is not the first time Snoop has been accused of homophobia. In the past, he has been called out for derogatory comments about transgender individuals and for using anti-gay slurs. His latest statements have intensified calls for accountability, with activists and fans urging the Australian Football League to reconsider his role as the headline performer at its upcoming Grand Final, citing concerns over inclusivity.

The controversy has reignited debate over how children’s films should portray LGBTQ+ themes and the responsibility of artists to foster acceptance.
