Claude AI, Anthropic’s AI assistant, can now use your computer and apps to accomplish tasks thanks to a recent update. But the AI company’s pursuit of remote task management and automation is far from over. The AI startup is now developing a new function for Claude that will let the AI assistant to perform chores on your mobile device and make calls. An X (previously Twitter) user with the pseudonym M1Astra found the Orbit feature, which is presently being tested. Screenshots of the code supplied by M1Astra suggest that Claude could be able to use a smartphone for several tasks thanks to the Orbit feature.

Calendar events can be added or removed, messages can be sent, calls can be placed, files can be shown, plans can be made, the browser can be taken over, and more.

Claude is already capable of making phone calls on its own, but it still needs more tools. Claude might be able to carry out these tasks on a phone on his own once the Orbit feature is integrated. Since Anthropic can now operate your computer and carry out tasks, the phone-use capability could “close the loop.” Mobile triggers would finish the automation cycle, enabling the AI assistant to function on both computers and smartphones.

Meanwhile, the newly rolled-out update in Claude allows the AI assistant to use your mouse, keyboard, and screen, and access apps on your behalf. Anthropic says this capability will allow Claude to complete work for you while you are away.

With this update, Claude can open applications, navigate browsers, fill spreadsheets, and manage other activities that are typically done on a computer.

As a result, Claude becomes more like a personal AI agent that can perform activities on your behalf, akin to programs like OpenClaw. Anthropic claims that users can stand back and remotely prompt Claude. The AI might have completed the task by the time they get back.

This feature is currently limited to premium customers of Claude Cowork and Claude Code as a research preview. For present, the feature is limited to macOS. For complete functionality, the Claude Desktop and mobile apps must also be updated and paired.
