SOUMITRA MAJUMDAR ASSUMES CHARGE ASGENERAL MANAGER OF SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY

Kolkata : Soumitra Majumdar has taken over the charge of General Manager, South Eastern Railway on 1st April, 2026. Prior to taking over the charge of General Manager of South Eastern Railway, Soumitra Majumdar was the Additional General Manager, South Eastern Railway. Soumitra Majumdar is an officer of Indian Railways Traffic service, 1989 Exam Batch.

He has worked in various posts and in different capacities i.e. Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Eastern Railway, Chief Passenger Transportation Manager & Chief Traffic Planning Manager, South Eastern Railway. He has also worked as Chief Public Relations Officer in both Eastern Railway & South Eastern Railway for a very long period. He will be looking after the post of General Manager till posting of regular incumbent.
He has vast knowledge and working experience in Railway operations and commercial issues as well as Public Relations and Media Management of Railways. He has keen interest in sports, music, travel and cultural activities & actively participates in various programmes, showcasing his enthusiasm and talent. He has also served as the President of the Eastern Railway Sports Association (ERSA).
