Sourav Ganguly Is Ruled Out For The ICC Chairmanship, And The Board Will Support The Incumbent Leader Greg Barclay

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it plain that it will support Greg Barclay, the current chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), in keeping the position and will not support Sourav Ganguly for the position. According to BCCI sources, the BCCI representative for ICC and CEC, AGM has granted office holders the authority to decide on the matter.
The two BCCI representatives who will be present at the ICC are the only significant area of speculation, as was previously reported. While Jay Shah is anticipated to represent India in ICC Board meetings, the BCCI has already made it clear that it will pass on the ICC chairperson and support Greg Barclay of New Zealand for a second term.
Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, intervened in the controversy surrounding Ganguly’s impending departure from the Indian cricket board earlier on October 17, declaring that she would ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to permit the former cricketer from India and head of the BCCI to run for the position of ICC chairperson.
The BCCI AGM resolved to grant officeholders authority over the organization’s envoy to the ICC. After the AGM on October 18, BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla said, “We will decide when the bridge comes as to whom BCCI will support in the ICC election.”
As the new BCCI president, Roger Binny, a part of the 1983 World Cup-winning squad and the head of the Karnataka Cricket Association, said, “In terms of cricket, the system is already in place. We must investigate the cause of the injury. We must investigate this issue thoroughly. We have competent trainers and doctors, but the issue of why there are so many injuries needs to be addressed. To help our players adapt when we play outside of India, we need to prepare more active surfaces.”
