South Africa created history by reaching their first-ever ICC Women’s ODI World Cup final after a dominant 125-run victory against England in Guwahati. Batting first, the Proteas posted a formidable 319 for 7, led by captain Laura Wolvaardt’s stunning 169 off 143 balls, featuring 20 fours and four sixes. She shared crucial partnerships with Tazmin Brits and Marizanne Kapp, helping South Africa post a match-winning total.
England’s chase faltered under immense pressure as Marizanne Kapp dismantled their batting order with a sensational spell of 5 for 20. Despite fighting half-centuries from Nat Sciver-Brunt and Alice Capsey, England were bowled out for 194 in 42.3 overs.
The emphatic win marked South Africa’s redemption after years of near misses in World Cup knockouts. They now await the winner of the India-Australia semi-final for a chance to claim their maiden world title.
