Supporters allege malpractice by CSK as video spreads widely.

A group of fans on social media is claiming that Chennai Super Kings tampered with the ball in their IPL 2025 El Clasico match against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, March 23. A viral video circulating on social media features Khaleel Ahmed and CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad exchanging an item just before the left-arm pacer was about to bowl.

In the video, Ruturaj is observed walking towards Khaleel as the bowler retrieved an item from the left pocket of his trousers. The CSK captain held the ball while conversing with his teammates when not in front of the camera. As they approached the camera, Khaleel grabbed the ball from Ruturaj and gave something to the CSK captain. Ruturaj walked off and appeared to be sliding something into his pocket.

Chennai kicked off their IPL 2025 journey with a 4-wicket victory against MI. On that day, CSK won the toss and chose to bowl first. The choice turned out to be brilliant as Khaleel got Rohit Sharma out with the fourth delivery of the innings and then took Ryan Rickleton’s wicket in his following over.

Will Jacks’ stay was brief as CSK dominated MI at that point before Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma brought some stability with a partnership of 50 runs. However, this is when the match changed as Noor Ahmad entered and stunned the MI batting.

He removed Suryakumar, aided by a splendid stumping from MS Dhoni, while the Afghan spinner took 4 wickets that day. MI managed to score 155 in their 20 overs, but ultimately it wasn’t sufficient. CSK reached the finish line due to fifties from Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
