Suvendu Adhikari Abstains From The Swearing-In Of The Bengal Guv

Suvendu Adhikari, the head of the BJP in Bengal, skipped Dr. CV Ananda Bose’s swearing-in ceremony as governor of the state on 23 November, alleging a problem with the seating at Raj Bhawan. Adhikari criticized the uncultured conduct of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs in a tweet that included a picture of the decorations at Raj Bhavan.

Additionally, he slammed chief minister Mamata Banerjee and said the image demonstrated a political vendetta on the part of the Trinamool Congress, which is now in power.

Before making the controversial switch to the BJP months before the Bengal Assembly election in 2021, Adhikari was a close ally of Banerjee. He ran against the friend-turned-foe Banerjee from his stronghold of Nandigram and defeated the Trinamool leader, who needed to win a byelection to keep her position as chief minister.

He referred to Banerjee as the owner of the company and that she had chosen the guest list and seating plan. Additionally, he stated that he would not attend the program because he could not attend without jeopardizing his status as the LoP.
