Tata Electronics Secures ₹1,500 Crore Investment Amid Apple Manufacturing Expansion in India

News Mania Desk /Piyal Chatterjee/24th December 2025

Tata Electronics has received a ₹1,500 crore capital injection from its parent group as part of efforts to expand iPhone production in India, reinforcing the company’s position as a key contract manufacturer for Apple. The funding, announced through a regulatory filing, comes as India increasingly emerges as a critical hub for global electronics manufacturing, particularly for high-end consumer devices.

The latest investment raises Tata Electronics’ total backing from Tata Sons to approximately ₹4,500 crore in the past year. Alongside the infusion, the company has increased its authorised share capital to ₹20,000 crore, signaling plans for further expansion to meet growing domestic and export demand. Industry analysts say the move reflects Apple’s broader strategy to diversify its production away from China and strengthen its supply chain in India.

Tata Electronics manufactures iPhones for international markets, including the United States and Europe, and the new funds are expected to enhance production capacity, modernise infrastructure, and accommodate higher order volumes. The company’s expansion aligns with government incentives under India’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, aimed at boosting domestic electronics manufacturing.

While the company has not provided detailed plans for the allocation of the new capital, the move demonstrates long-term growth ambitions and positions Tata Electronics as a strategic partner for Apple’s increasing footprint in India. Analysts say the investment underscores India’s rising importance in the global tech manufacturing ecosystem and signals confidence from one of the country’s largest conglomerates in the sector’s future.

As Apple continues to shift more production to India, Tata Electronics is poised to play a central role in supporting international supply chains while contributing to the country’s growing status as a hub for high-end electronics manufacturing.
