Tata Steel has been acknowledged as a Steel Sustainability Champion 2025 by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), as stated in a company announcement on Tuesday.
The Board of Members of Worldsteel held a Special General Meeting (SGM) on Tuesday in Sydney, Australia, where they announced the names of the Steel Sustainability Champions for 2025, as reported.
Upon receiving the honor, Tata Steel’s CEO and Managing Director, TV Narendran, remarked: “We are proud to be acknowledged once more as a steel sustainability leader by the World Steel Association.” This accomplishment underscores our ongoing dedication to sustainable steel production, incorporating state-of-the-art technologies and ethical business methods to minimize environmental effects.
“We remain dedicated to driving innovation, improving resource efficiency, and contributing meaningfully to a greener and more resilient future for the steel industry.”
To be recognized as a sustainability champion, companies need to fulfill strict requirements such as signing the Worldsteel Sustainability Charter and proving their dedication to environmental stewardship, social impact, and governance quality.
The assessment procedure takes into account essential sustainability metrics like material efficiency, environmental management frameworks, frequency of lost time injuries, employee development, investments in innovative processes and products, and the distribution of economic value. Furthermore, firms are required to submit Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) information to worldsteel’s data gathering initiative.
