According to an exchange filing, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the biggest IT business in India, announced on Friday, October 10, 2025, the opening of an AI experience zone and design studio in London, UK, as part of its restructuring initiatives.
In an effort to promote employment and talent development, TCS also said that it intends to add 5,000 new jobs around Britain over the course of the next three years. The IT giant plans to lay off over 12,000 workers, or nearly 2% of its global staff, as part of a company-wide reorganization.
According to data from the July to September quarter of the fiscal year 2025–2026, the company’s overall staff headcount has already decreased by 19,755 to 593,314 as of the second quarter, from 613,069 at the end of the first quarter. The design firm TCS hopes that this AI hub will strategically contribute to the promotion of innovation and client collaboration across the country.
The first design studio debuted in New York in September 2025, and the London studio comes after it. These studios seek to capitalize on the innovation ecosystem that TCS has established nationwide in collaboration with its partners, academic institutions, and start-up businesses.
“As we celebrate a landmark Prime Ministerial visit to India, we have reaffirmed the pledge between our two economies to maximise on the trade deal we signed in July. As a valued investor for the UK, Tata Group and its companies like TCS are central to this mission, which ultimately will create jobs, put money in people’s pockets, and deliver economic growth across both countries,” said Jason Stockwood, Minister of Investment, UK.
The Tata Group firm has been partnering with the United Kingdom for over five decades and has created nearly 42,000 direct and indirect job opportunities in the nation.
In the financial year 2023-24, the IT major contributed 3.3 billion British pounds to the UK economy, while supporting a total tax contribution of more than 780 million euros in the same fiscal year.
“The UK is TCS’ second-largest market globally, making it central to our investment strategy around the world. The AI Experience Zone will further help to foster innovation in collaboration with businesses throughout the UK, helping in maintaining an edge in artificial intelligence and new technologies. Additionally, we are continuing to expand our footprint across the UK, with investment into innovation, people, and skills in all four nations,” said Vinay Singhvi, the Head of UK and Ireland of TCS.
