Washington DC:US Congressman Rich McCormick has reaffirmed the critical importance of the India–US strategic partnership for global peace and prosperity, following the announcement of a new trade agreement between the two democracies. Speaking to ANI, McCormick, co-chair of the India Caucus in the US Congress, highlighted the strong personal rapport between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump as a key pillar of bilateral ties.

McCormick emphasised India’s growing global stature as the world’s most populous nation and one of the fastest-growing major economies, projecting it to soon become the third-largest economy by GDP. He underlined that closer cooperation between the world’s two largest democracies could usher in long-term global stability.

While acknowledging recent frictions over energy procurement and immigration, McCormick expressed optimism, citing India’s gradual shift from Russian oil to US supplies as a stabilising move for the global order.
