The government agrees to the opposition’s request for a discussion on Operation Sindoor during the Parliament’s Monsoon Session says sources.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament begins tomorrow, and sources indicate that the Centre has agreed to the Opposition’s request for a debate on Operation Sindoor. However, they noted that the government has not yet decided on a discussion regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, which is preparing for elections.
The Monsoon session will begin on July 21 and end on August 21. On Saturday, the Opposition INDIA alliance conducted a virtual meeting with 24 of its members, agreeing on eight key issues they intend to address during the Monsoon session, such as the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, the ceasefire declaration by US President Donald Trump, India’s foreign policy, and the Election Commission’s current revision of electoral rolls in Bihar.
The virtual meeting included Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, K C Venugopal, and Jairam Ramesh from the Congress; Ram Gopal Yadav from the Samajwadi Party; Abhishek Banerjee from the TMC; Uddhav Thackeray and Sanjay Raut from Shiv Sena (UBT); Sharad Pawar and Jayant Patil from NCP(SP); Omar Abdullah from the National Conference; Hemant Soren from JMM; Tejashwi Yadav from RJD; and Tiruchi N Siva from DMK. D Raja, M A Baby, and Dipankar Bhattacharya represented the CPI, CPI(M), and CPI(ML) Liberation respectively. Kerala Congress (M) MP Jose K Mani, RSP’s N K Premachandran, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi’s Thirumavalavan, and IUML’s K M Kader Mohideen participated in the meeting.
This will be the first session following the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and a local ponywallah. Following this, Operation Sindoor was carried out by the Indian military in Pakistan targeting terrorism that originated from there.
