A heated exchange has broken out in the film industry after The Kerala Story 2 director Kamakhya Narayan Singh strongly criticised actor Prakash Raj for taking a dig at the upcoming film.

The controversy began when Prakash Raj shared a social media post featuring images of different food dishes, including both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, with a caption suggesting harmony in cultural diversity. Many interpreted the post as a subtle criticism of the narrative promoted in The Kerala Story 2, which has already been at the centre of debate over its themes and portrayal of sensitive issues.

Responding sharply, Singh accused the actor of being “intellectually bankrupt” and expressed disappointment over his remarks. He said he once admired Prakash Raj as a talented performer but now questioned his perspective on the issues the film seeks to address. According to Singh, the subject matter explored in the movie is serious and rooted in concerns that deserve discussion rather than dismissal.

The sequel has attracted attention even before its release, with critics and supporters clashing over its intent and messaging. While some voices in the industry have labelled the project as divisive, the filmmakers maintain that their aim is to present what they believe are pressing social realities.

Producer Vipul Shah has also defended the film, asserting that it does not target any specific community and instead attempts to raise awareness about certain issues. As the release date approaches, the controversy has further amplified interest in The Kerala Story 2, ensuring that it remains a focal point of discussion within Bollywood and beyond.
