Popular American folk-rock band The Lumineers performed in Gurugram on Sunday, marking their first standalone trip to India and their only stop in the subcontinent. Fans sang along all night long as the performance, which was produced and marketed by BookMyShow Live, drew a large crowd. Wesley Schultz, the frontman, and Jeremiah Fraites, the drummer, led a set that blended songs from the band’s most recent album with previous pieces. Ho Hey, Cleopatra, Ophelia, and Stubborn Love were on the set list, along with more current songs like Keys on the Table, You’re All I Got, and Same Old Thing. The crowd sang along several of these hits, which pused the band to play at their finest levels.
The songwriting and voice were the main focus of the performance, which used little arrangements. Large sections of the crowd sang along, while quieter times were received with silence from the audience. Throughout the performance, Wesley spoke to the audience several times, praising the band’s return to India and their relationship with the Delhi-NCR population.
Midway through the performance, they went into their recent track titled Asshole, and also raised a toast to the night, dedicating the song to all the “a*sholes” in the crowd, including themselves. The Gurugram event marked a rare opportunity for Indian fans to experience the band live, considering the limited scope of their current tour in the region.
