The primary suspect in the lynching of Hindu garment industry worker Dipu Das has been detained by Bangladeshi authorities on charges of blasphemy. The attack, which has aroused international condemnation amid ongoing crimes against minorities in Bangladesh, is thought to have been mostly planned and carried out by former teacher Yasin Arafat, according to officials.

Das, 27, was forced to quit by his factory bosses on December 18 in the Mymensingh region. He was then ejected from his job and turned over to a furious group of Islamists who beat him to death and hung him and set fire to it.

According to the police, Arafat, who was detained on Thursday, allegedly left the region and went into hiding following Das’s murder. Officials claim that he planned the assault, encouraging others to congregate and go against Das.

According to reports, he was able to swiftly mobilize a sizable group thanks to his leadership in the neighborhood, turning the situation into a deadly attack.Arafat personally hauled him to a crossroads, where he was hanged from a tree and burned on fire, according to the police, in addition to encouraging the mob.

According to reports, Arafat used to teach at a mosque and is a local. As officials investigate if his impact went beyond the immediate events of the attack, his role as a teacher is now being scrutinized. The case has resulted in 21 arrests overall, including Arafat. To find any further suspects who might have been connected to the incident, authorities are carrying out their investigation.
