Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and leaders of various parties on Thursday greeted NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu on being elected as the President of India.
In her message, the governor said, “The life journey of Smt Droupadi Murmu ji from a humble beginning to the highest Constitutional position of the country is truly inspiring. It is a momentous occasion in the history of the country.”
Jana Sena party founder Pawan Kalyan, in a statement, hailed the election of Murmu as President and extended greetings to her.
Sanjay Kumar, BJP MLA Eatala Rajender and other leaders also congratulated Murmu.
BJP activists in the state celebrated the victory of Murmu.
Murmu scripted history today by becoming the country’s first tribal President, defeating Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha in a one-sided contest.
