Rekha Gupta, the chief minister of Delhi, asserted on Monday that her government had achieved a new milestone in just five months of power by passing three important acts, one of which regulated private school fees.
“Our priority is not political theatrics but constructive debate and governance focused on resolving public issues. Every MLA was given the opportunity to speak, and the opposition was also allotted equal time so that the House could truly function as the voice of the people,” said Gupta.
The chief minister highlighted the accomplishments of her government, pointing out that three important acts had been enacted in just five months, while the previous AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) government only passed 14 bills in five years, the majority of which were with GST (Goods and Services Tax) and wage adjustments.
Condemning the “Gallows House” controversy, she argued that the row was a form of negative politics that not only sought to distort historical facts but also defiled the proud legacy of the House.
“The Assembly exists for law-making and public service, not for manipulating emotions,” she stressed. According to her, 2.2 million national flags would be distributed in advance of Independence Day as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign.
