Donald Trump, the president of the United States, has pulled the country out of numerous international organizations, many of which are involved in the fight against climate change.
The Framework Convention on Climate Change, a convention that serves as the foundation for all worldwide efforts to prevent global warming, is one of the nearly half of the 66 affected organizations that are connected to the United Nations.

Included are organizations that focus on development, gender equality, and conflict—areas that the Trump administration has consistently rejected as promoting “globalist” or “woke” goals.

According to the White House, the organizations “no longer serve American interests” and advance “ineffective or hostile agendas,” which is why the decision was made .The memorandum was signed on Wednesday following a review, with the White House describing the organisations as “a waste of taxpayer dollars”.”These withdrawals will end American taxpayer funding and involvement in entities that advance globalist agendas over US priorities,” it said in a statement.

It added that many of the organisations promoted “radical climate policies, global governance and ideological programs that conflict with US sovereignty and economic strength”.

The United States has withdrew from both the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the world’s preeminent authority on climate science that compiles the most reputable studies on the science of rising global temperatures.

It was informed by sources inside the organization that they were worried about how the Trump administration’s withdrawal may affect US scientists working on the body’s next research projects.  US experts have already been prevented from attending a seminar in China by the White House.

The next batch of IPCC findings, including possibly its mitigation report—a document that advises governments on how to address climate change—may be delayed if travel or participation by US experts is restricted.

The International Solar Alliance, the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, and the Global Counter-Terrorism Forum are among the non-UN organizations impacted by the US withdrawal that are concerned with international security, democratic governance, and clean energy cooperation.

Trump has previously called the scientific consensus on man-made climate change a “hoax” and withheld funding from numerous multilateral organizations that he detests. Although it will take a year for the US to completely leave the UNFCCC, the US actually stopped actively participating in the UN group that deals with climate change long ago. Additionally, the US has already left the UN Human Rights Council, the World Health Organization, and Unesco, the UN’s cultural body.

This most recent decision has drawn criticism from European politicians, who warned that it will erode international cooperation.EU climate commissioner Wopke Hoekstra said the UNFCCC “underpins global climate action” and called the US retreat “regrettable and unfortunate”, while the EU’s clean transition vice-president Teresa Ribera said the administration showed little concern for the environment, health or human suffering.
