Trump’s Remark on Iranian School Strike Sparks Global Outrage

Fresh controversy has erupted after Donald Trump said he was “willing to live with that” when questioned about reports that a United States missile strike may have killed more than 100 schoolgirls in Iran, intensifying criticism of Washington amid the escalating conflict between the two nations.

The remarks came after a deadly blast struck a girls’ school in the southern Iranian city of Minab, leaving scores of children dead and injured. Iranian authorities claimed that the attack was carried out using a US-made missile during ongoing military operations in the region. According to Iranian officials and local media reports, the explosion occurred while students were inside the school building, leading to devastating casualties among young pupils.

When asked during a press interaction about allegations that US forces might have been responsible for the strike, Trump acknowledged the reports but appeared to dismiss concerns about the potential civilian deaths. He said he was aware of the claims but suggested that Iran itself could be responsible for the tragedy due to errors in its own military operations. Trump also stated that if US forces were ultimately found to be involved, it would not change his stance, adding that he was “willing to live with that.”

The comment quickly triggered backlash from political leaders, human rights organisations and observers worldwide, who criticised the tone of the response given the scale of the reported casualties. Many said the statement reflected a troubling disregard for civilian lives, particularly children caught in the crossfire of geopolitical tensions.

Iranian officials strongly condemned the incident, accusing the United States and its allies of targeting civilian infrastructure. Tehran described the strike as a tragic example of the human cost of the ongoing confrontation between the two countries. Authorities in Iran warned that the deaths of the schoolchildren would not go unanswered and vowed to hold those responsible accountable.

Rescue teams reportedly rushed to the scene following the explosion, pulling victims from the rubble of the damaged school building. Witnesses described chaotic scenes as families gathered outside the site searching for their children. Some reports suggested the death toll could rise further as emergency workers continued to search for survivors.

Despite the accusations from Tehran, US officials have not confirmed responsibility for the strike. American authorities said they were examining the circumstances surrounding the explosion and gathering information to determine what exactly happened. They also maintained that US military operations are designed to avoid civilian targets. The incident has further heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran at a time when relations are already severely strained by ongoing military confrontations in the region.
