On live television, a professor from Kabul University tore up his degrees, declaring that he would not accept them if his mother and sister couldn’t go to school.
A now-viral TV program footage features the professor holding out each of his degrees. Then, one by one, he rips them apart.
“Amazing images as a Kabul university professor destroys his certificates on live TV in Afghanistan,” writes Shabnam Nasimi, a former policy advisor to the Minister for Afghan Resettlement and Minister for Refugees.

“I no longer require these certificates because education is not valued in our nation. I DON’T accept this education if my mother and sister can’t study “She cited what the professor said. Currently, Nasimi serves as executive director of Conservative Friends of Afghanistan, an organization that seeks to increase awareness of and support for Afghanistan in the UK.
Twenty years after being forced out of Afghanistan by US forces in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, the Taliban retook control of the country in August of last year.
Taliban leaders pledged to impose a more liberal system soon after taking control. But as limits crept into every part of women’s lives, their behaviors made it clear that they didn’t believe it.
The Taliban regime this week outlawed women from attending universities nationwide, which sparked intense backlash.
A number of modifications to university policies, such as gender-specific entrances and classrooms, led to the prohibition. Additionally, women may only take classes from older males or women lecturers.
The majority of adolescent girls in the country are already prohibited from attending secondary schools, significantly restricting their access to higher education.
