On Friday, Britain unveiled a fresh set of sanctions pertaining to Russia that target companies and persons who supply electronics, chemicals, and explosives used in the production of Russian weapons, as well as ships that transport Russian oil.
The British government stated in a statement that the package was a reaction to recent Russian aggression, citing the increased frequency of Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukraine in recent months as well as Wednesday’s breach of NATO airspace over Poland.
“International action to increase economic pressure on Russia and to cut off critical cash flows which he desperately needs to pay for this illegal war is vital,”
The fresh sanctions target 30 businesses and individuals, including one electronics company based in China and another in Turkey, that Britain claimed were involved in providing the Russian military with equipment used in weapons systems, as well as 70 additional ships that it claimed were being used to transport Russian oil.
