In response to what Kyiv’s air force identified as a missile threat, an air raid alert was issued on November 20 in the Ukrainian capital and multiple other areas. The warning was issued just hours after the US State Department closed its embassy in Kyiv due to “specific information of a potential significant air attack.” The head of Ukraine’s presidential administration advised civilians not to disregard the warning. Russia carried out a large psychological operation against Ukraine, according to Ukraine’s military intelligence service, which also said that the campaign entailed the widespread dissemination of false information about an impending massive missile assault.
“This message is a fake, it contains grammatical errors typical of Russian information and psychological operations.”
The United States told its citizens in Ukraine to be ready to swiftly seek shelter.Following the extraordinary U.S. warning, the Greek and Italian embassies announced that they had also closed.
On the 1,000th day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine utilized U.S. ATACMS missiles to strike an arms store inside Russia on November 19, using recently obtained authorization from the departing administration of U.S. President Joe Biden.
