US restricts official visits to Karachi hotels after threat alert

On Friday, the State Department announced that the United States has temporarily restricted government personnel from visiting luxury hotels in Karachi, Pakistan, following a threat report .

“The US Consulate General Karachi received a report of a threat directed at high-end hotels in Karachi,” the department said in a security alert. “The US Consulate General in Karachi has temporarily limited visits by official US government personnel to these hotels.”

The State Department stated that it occasionally designates locations in other nations, including tourist spots, hotels, markets, shopping centers, and eateries, as forbidden for official US government staff due to these threats.

The security warning advises individuals to steer clear of crowds and specific areas, maintain a low profile, and remain vigilant in locations popular with tourists and residents of Western nations. The State Department has a travel advisory for Pakistan that advises US citizens to think twice about traveling there due to terrorism risks and possible armed conflict.
