Users using the WhatsApp beta describe a serious green screen problem, leaving them unhappy

News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee / 11th November 2024

There is a chance of encountering flaws when testing an early version of software or an application. It appears that WhatsApp beta testers are currently experiencing a serious glitch that is rendering their handsets unresponsive by causing the entire screen to turn green. This problem is occurring with WhatsApp beta version 2.24.24.5 on Android, where clicking on a chat or message causes the entire screen to become green.

Avoid being misled by green lines, which occur when a single line of LEDs in smartphones with OLED screens turns green. These lines represent permanent harm. When a user attempts to launch WhatsApp in this instance, the entire screen goes green until the user exits the program.

Thankfully, the stable version of WhatsApp does not have this problem. Additionally, no iOS WhatsApp beta testers have reported this problem, therefore it exclusively affects Android users.

How to fix the green screen problem on WhatsApp

A patch for the bug should be released by Meta if you can wait. However, as the problem is in the beta build, there is currently no urgency and no confirmation of the same.

The wisest course of action at this time is to stop beta testing. Nevertheless, some customers continue to have the same problem when downgrading from the beta version to the stable version. Using WhatsApp on companion devices, such as a laptop, iPad, or iPhone, is another simple solution to this problem. You can always remove WhatsApp and install the most recent stable version if none of it works. Make sure you have a Google Cloud backup of your mails before proceeding. Otherwise, you risk losing your valuable conversations.
