CCTV footage of a mudslide in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, following Cyclone Fengal has emerged. The footage shows mud, water, and debris rushing down a stairway and into people’s homes. The flood is shown taking down every thing in its path before weakening about a minute later.

The footage was captured on Sunday at Thiruvannamalai’s Pavala Kundru area, around one kilometer from the home where a family of seven was killed after a boulder fell down a hilltop and struck their home due to a landslide.

Even though Cyclone Fengal weakened yesterday, Tamil Nadu is still experiencing heavy rainfall in its aftermath. At least ten individuals have died in rain-related incidents in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Roads in numerous areas of Tamil Nadu have been devastated by severe rains. According to the Tamil Nadu government, the cyclone has inflicted enormous devastation in 14 districts, severely damaging roads and power lines and generating widespread flooding.

Chief Minister MK Stalin has assessed the state’s current status. He chaired a cabinet meeting to assess the damage caused by the cyclone. He has also declared a compensation of ₹5 lakh for relatives of the family that died due to the landslide and a relief of ₹2,000 to each rain-affected family in Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Kallakurichi districts.
