Vihaan Malhotra To Lead India U-19 A Squad In Upcoming Triangular Series

News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee/ 11th November 2025

Rising cricket talent Vihaan Malhotra has been appointed captain of the India Under-19 A squad for the upcoming triangular series, set to take place at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from November 17 to 30, 2025. The series will feature three teams — India U-19 A, India U-19 B, and Afghanistan U-19 — and will serve as a crucial platform for identifying the next generation of Indian cricket stars.

Alongside Malhotra, wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu has been named vice-captain of the India U-19 A side. Meanwhile, Aaron George will lead the India U-19 B squad, with Vedant Trivedi as his deputy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the official announcement earlier this week, underscoring its emphasis on building leadership depth and providing young players exposure in competitive conditions.

The selection committee notably left out two promising names — Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre — both unavailable due to other commitments. Sooryavanshi is currently representing India A in the ACC Rising Stars Asia Cup, while Mhatre has been drafted into his state side for the Ranji Trophy. Their absence opens the door for other youngsters to make a mark in this high-stakes developmental series.

For Vihaan Malhotra, who has been consistently impressive in age-group cricket, the captaincy marks a significant milestone in his journey. Known for his composed batting and sharp game awareness, Malhotra’s leadership will be closely watched as India’s cricketing ecosystem continues to groom players capable of handling international pressure.

The triangular series will not only test the strategic and leadership skills of the young captains but will also provide a stage for emerging players to showcase their potential in front of national selectors. Performances in this tournament often pave the way for higher honours — including selection in the senior India A squad and, eventually, the national team.

With Malhotra at the helm, India U-19 A will aim to begin the series on a strong note, blending discipline, teamwork, and flair — qualities that have long defined India’s youth cricket success stories.
