Defence Forces Vision 2047 Unveiled

Rajnath Singh has unveiled “Defence Forces Vision 2047,” a long-term roadmap aimed at
transforming India’s armed forces into a modern, integrated, and technologically advanced
military by the year 2047. The plan focuses on strengthening jointness among the Indian
Armed Forces, enhancing indigenous defence production, and adopting advanced technologies
such as artificial intelligence, cyber capabilities, and space-based systems. The initiative also
emphasizes theatre commands, improved coordination among the Army, Navy, and Air
Force, and long-term capability development. Officials said the vision aligns with India’s
broader goal of becoming a self-reliant and globally capable defence power by the centenary
of its independence in 2047.

DRDO, Navy Successfully Test Indigenous ADC-150

The Defence Research and Development Organisation and the Indian Navy have successfully
tested the Air Droppable Container-150 (ADC-150) from a Boeing P-8I Poseidon off the coast
of Goa.The ADC-150 is an indigenous aerial delivery system designed to safely drop critical
supplies such as food, medicines, and equipment from aircraft to remote or disaster-affected
areas. The successful trial demonstrated the container’s stability, precision, and ability to deliver
payloads during maritime operations.Officials said the test significantly enhances India’s aerial
logistics and humanitarian assistance capabilities, enabling faster support to naval missions
and emergency relief operations at sea.

Indonesia to Procure BrahMos Missiles in $450 Million Deal

Indonesia is set to procure BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles in a deal valued at around $450
million, marking another major defence export success for India in Southeast Asia. The missile
system, developed by BrahMos Aerospace, is known for its high speed, precision strike
capability, and versatility for land, sea, and air platforms.Officials say the agreement will
strengthen defence cooperation between India and Indonesia while enhancing Indonesia’s
maritime security capabilities. The deal also reflects India’s growing role as a defence exporter
in the Indo-Pacific region, following similar BrahMos exports to the Philippines.

AMCA Fifth-Generation Fighter Jet Project Approved

The Cabinet Committee on Security has approved the prototype development of the Advanced
Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), marking a major step in strengthening India’s defence
capabilities. The AMCA project, led by the Defence Research and Development Organisation in
collaboration with the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, aims to develop a stealth, fifth-generation fighter aircraft equipped with advanced avionics, supercruise capability, and next-
generation weapons systems.Officials said prototype development will begin soon, with
production targeted around 2035. The aircraft is expected to significantly enhance the combat
capabilities of the Indian Air Force and strengthen India’s goal of achieving greater self-reliance
in advanced military technology.

₹70,000 Crore Submarine Project Moves Forward

The Government of India has approved negotiations between the Ministry of Defence (India) and
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) for a ₹70,000 crore submarine project, aimed at
strengthening the country’s naval capabilities. The project is part of efforts to expand and
modernize the underwater fleet of the Indian Navy amid evolving maritime security
challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.Officials said the negotiations will focus on technology,
production timelines, and indigenous manufacturing, supporting India’s push for self-reliance
in defence under the broader “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative.Once finalized, the project is
expected to significantly enhance the Navy’s stealth, surveillance, and underwater combat
capabilities, reinforcing India’s maritime security and strategic deterrence.

India–Russia Aerospace Collaboration Boosted at Wings India 2026

New agreements were finalized during Wings India 2026 to enable the production of the
Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SJ-100) in India. The deal reflects growing aerospace cooperation
between India and Russia. The initiative aims to strengthen local aviation manufacturing,
support technology transfer, and expand India’s role in the global aerospace supply chain.
Industry officials say producing the SJ-100 domestically could create new opportunities for
Indian aerospace firms, skilled jobs, and component manufacturing. The collaboration is also
expected to support India’s broader push for self-reliance in aviation under indigenous
manufacturing initiatives, while deepening strategic ties between the two countries in the
aerospace sector.

India Approves $1 Billion Deal for Additional S-400 Missiles

The Defence Acquisition Council has cleared an urgent $1 billion deal to procure 288
additional missiles for the S-400 Triumf from Russia. The decision aims to strengthen India’s
air defence shield amid evolving regional security challenges. The additional missiles will
enhance the operational readiness of the Indian Air Force by increasing interception capacity
against enemy aircraft, drones, and ballistic missiles.Officials said the procurement is intended to
ensure adequate missile stockpiles for the already deployed S-400 systems, which are
considered among the most advanced air defence platforms in the world. The move reflects India’s continued effort to upgrade its strategic defence capabilities and maintain strong
deterrence.

India Pushes Major Defence Indigenisation Drive

The Government of India is accelerating its defence indigenisation drive through the
implementation of Positive Indigenisation Lists, which gradually restrict the import of several
categories of military equipment. The initiative aims to promote domestic production of
advanced weapons systems, including tanks, fighter aircraft, artillery, missiles, and
ammunition. By prioritizing locally manufactured equipment, the government seeks to
strengthen the country’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing under broader national
initiatives such as Atmanirbhar Bharat.Officials say the policy is encouraging greater
participation from Indian defence companies, start-ups, and research organizations while
reducing dependence on foreign suppliers and boosting the country’s long-term strategic
capabilities
