WhatsApp faces massive outage as users report issues in sending messages

The messaging app WhatsApp, owned by Meta, experienced problems in India on Saturday evening, as users reported difficulties in sending messages.
On social media platform X, users reported problems with essential features, such as sending messages and uploading statuses. Nonetheless, WhatsApp did not promptly react to the disruption.
“Cannot send messages to group.. whats app down ? #WhatsApp,” a user wrote in a post on X.
“Hey @WhatsApp , is the app down? I’m having trouble sending messages – they’re just not going through. Anyone else facing this? #WhatsAppDown,” another user posted on X.
“Is @WhatsApp down in India today? Not able to send messages in groups! Getting a red exclamation mark on sending messages. #whatsappdown #Whatsapp,” an X user reported.
After the outage, numerous individuals posted memes to vent their frustration and to verify if the messaging app was truly offline. The hashtag #WhatsAppDown started trending on social media as users faced challenges while using the app.
Earlier in the day, numerous individuals encountered challenges while processing payments through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
