Gut health plays a crucial role in your overall wellness, impacting everything from immunity to mental health. What you eat significantly influences your digestive system, and herbs are known for their powerful healing properties that benefit digestion.

Gastroenterologist Dr. Saurabh Sethi, who often shares gut health tips, revealed three herbs he personally includes in his daily routine—along with how and when he uses them:

Turmeric is a common household spice, especially in curries. It’s well-known for its anti-inflammatory powers. Dr. Sethi includes turmeric in his morning omelette, explaining that curcumin, its active compound, helps reduce gut inflammation by targeting inflammatory pathways.

Moringa offers a nutrient-rich boost for gut health. It not only fights inflammation but also helps maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria. Dr. Sethi enjoys moringa in his evening green smoothie, noting its high content of polyphenols, flavonoids, and other compounds that support liver function and fight harmful microbes.

Fennel seeds are a go-to for easing digestion. If you’re in the habit of chewing them after meals, you’re on the right track. Dr. Sethi recommends chewing a teaspoon of fennel seeds after dinner to help reduce post-meal bloating and discomfort.
