Your Name is Going to the Moon: NASA Opens Submissions for Artemis II Mission
News Mania Desk / Piyal Chatterjee/3rd December 2025

In a gesture of global inclusivity, NASA is inviting the public to participate in its monumental Artemis II mission by sending their names to the Moon. This historic flight, slated for launch no later than April 2026, will be the first crewed voyage of the Artemis program, carrying four astronauts—including Canadian Space Agency’s Jeremy Hansen—on a 10-day loop around the Moon and back.
The initiative allows people worldwide to have their names etched onto microchips that will fly aboard the Orion spacecraft as it evaluates systems and orbits approximately 4,600 miles beyond the Moon.
The process for sending your name to space has been simplified into three easy steps:
- Access the Portal: Visit NASA’s official “Send Your Name” registration page for the Artemis II mission.
- Submit Details: Input your first name, last name, and a unique 4- to 7-digit PIN code.
- Claim Your Pass: Immediately receive and download a personalized digital boarding pass commemorating your symbolic journey to the Moon.
NASA emphasizes the importance of securely storing the chosen PIN, as it will be required to retrieve the boarding pass in the future. This program offers the public a tangible, unique connection to the groundbreaking mission, which is designed to pave the way for human exploration of Mars.
