Kolkata Police Launch An Internal Investigation Into The Wife Of Rashid Khan’s Graft Complaint

In response to allegations made by Joyeeta Basu Khan, the vocalist of Ustad Rashid Khan’s wife, that police officers on the EM Bypass requested a bribe from her driver on December 7, Kolkata Police has launched an internal investigation.

Vineet Goyal, the police commissioner, called the singer on December 8 and told him that the accusations would be thoroughly investigated.

According to Basu, police stopped her car on the EM Bypass at 3.25 am as they were returning from the Kolkata Airport and demanded Rs 2,000 from the driver or they would report him for driving while intoxicated. Her family claimed that their driver was victimized because they refused to pay the bribe.

The family was also welcomed at their home by a squad from the Kolkata Police.

However, authorities stated that after stopping their car and testing driver Ranjit Ojha with a breathalyzer, they discovered he had a blood alcohol level double the legal limit.

Contrarily, Basu and her family stated that their driver wasn’t intoxicated, and police officers only tested his breath to demand money.
