Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders during an election rally in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. He accused Rahul Gandhi of embarking on a doomed campaign journey with the ‘Bharat JodoYatra,’ which Shah suggested would culminate in a ‘Congress DhoondhoYatra’ after the Lok Sabha elections.
Shah asserted that Rahul Gandhi, along with Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and SP’s Akhilesh Yadav, avoided attending the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, fearing a backlash from their voter base. He painted a grim picture for the Congress party, alleging its marginalization in the ongoing electoral process.
Highlighting the significance of the current elections, Shah emphasized the need to combat terrorism and extremism while positioning India as a global economic powerhouse. He criticized the Samajwadi Party for perpetuating dynastic politics, citing the allocation of electoral tickets to five members of Akhilesh Yadav’s family.
Pointing to the completion of the Ram Temple construction, Shah credited the BJP for achieving what the Congress failed to do in 70 years. He criticized opposition leaders for skipping the consecration ceremony, attributing their absence to political expediency.
Shah also touched upon national security issues, citing the surgical strike in response to the Pulwama attack as a demonstration of the Modi government’s resolve against terrorism. He lauded the successful vaccination drive against COVID-19 and highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s transformation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, citing a decline in communal violence and improved industrial growth.
In a scathing critique of the opposition’s internal discord, Shah questioned their commitment to public welfare amidst their political ambitions. He accused the INDIA bloc of being torn apart by conflicting agendas, contrasting it with the BJP’s focus on governance and development.
With Bareilly set to go to the polls in the third phase on May 7, Shah’s rally aimed to galvanize support for the BJP while disparaging its opponents. As the electoral battle intensifies, Shah’s rhetoric underscores the high stakes and the fierce competition shaping India’s political landscape.
