A senior officer said that a sub-inspector from the Park Street police station in this city was taken into custody on Monday for allegedly molesting a female volunteer for the community. He’s been taken into custody. Not much can be disclosed at this time because the situation is still being investigated,” the officer stated.
The event allegedly happened on October 5 at 1:10 AM when the female civic volunteer was called to the police station’s fourth-floor lavatory.The sub-inspector was placed under prison after the Detective Department carried out a departmental probe, after which he had been “closed” (benched) by Kolkata Police.
Since her appointment in 2017, she has been working at the Park Street police station. After her original report was denied by Park Street police station, the woman allegedly took her case to higher-ups at Kolkata Police headquarters in Lalbazar, as well as to the office of DC South.
