Narendra Bijarniya, a senior Haryana police officer and the Superintendent of Police for Rohatk, was dismissed from his position after being implicated in the suicide case of IPS officer Puran Kumar. Bijarniya has been replaced as Rohtak’s SP by Surinder Singh Bhoria. No post has been given to Bijarniya as of now.
This action follows the filing of a formal complaint at the police station by Kumar’s wife, IAS officer Amneet Puran Kumar, who named senior officials, including the Rohtak SSP and Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor, alleging harassment and abetment.
Her complaint called for security for her family, preservation of their rights, and the filing of formal complaints and the arrest of the senior officers mentioned in the suicide note. A formal complaint was filed against 13 cops as a result of her accusation. The postmortem will not take place until Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor is fired, according to a 31-member commission. The committee has also called for a Mahapanchayat at the Chandigarh Sector 20 Gurudwara, calling for prompt action against the implicated officials and justice for the IPS officer.
Sonia Gandhi has written to Amneet Kumar, saying that the death of Puran Kumar reminds how even senior Dalit bureaucrats are deprived of social equality. “His patriotism and commitment will continue to remind us that the sacrifice and dedication of our elders inspire even senior officials to serve the nation selflessly,” Sonia Gandhi added.
Rahul Gandhi, Randeep Surjewala, and Bhupinder Singh Hooda are among the leaders who have demanded that justice be served immediately. Demanding FIRs against the DGP, SSP, and other top officers, Dalit organizations gathered outside the Chief Minister’s home and threatened statewide protests if nothing was done.
Senior Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar killed himself on October 7 at his Chandigarh home. In his 9-page suicide note, he accused 12 officials of mental torture. A will that left all of Kumar’s possessions to his wife was included in his note.
According to sources, he claimed administrative bias, harassment, and discrimination in the note that was found in his pocket. According to reports, the message accuses a DGP-rank officer of frequently bothering him by issuing unnecessary notices. Kumar also accused two IAS officers and seven to eight IPS officers, accusing them of prejudice in official reviews (ACRs), discrimination in placements, and administrative meddling.
To look into the alleged suicide of Haryana ADGP Y Puran Kumar, Chandigarh Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) consisting of six members, under the direction of IG Pushpendra Kumar.
