Maiden Arjun Chandra Burman Memorial Award conferred

An all-India poetry conference was held at Rabindra Tirtha Theater in New Town on Sunday -24th July 2022. Poets, writers, social workers from Delhi, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Kolkata, Tamil Nadu, Kerala participated in the conference.
The programme was organized by Pragya Mail, a Delhi-based Hindi newspaper with Azir Kavita Group of Assam.


At the end of the event, Pragya Mail presented the first commemorative ‘Special International Media Personality’ Award, commemorating eminent philanthropist and former central government official Arjun Chandra Burman, to Delhi-based journalist Ratnajyoti Dutta.
Award-winning journalist Ratnajyoti Dutta has been involved in the profession of journalism for over two decades. He earned a reputation as a working journalist with integrity and dedication in the world renowned news agencies – Reuters, Dow Jones Newswires – Wall Street Journal and Platts over the years.

Renowned Delhi-based journalist Manas Banerjee and Bornali Biswas, Editor In Chief of Kolkata-based News Mania news group were also felicitated on behalf of Pragya Mail newspaper group with Excellence Award.

Rabindra Tirtha was full since morning. Among the hundreds of poets, 60 representatives came from North Eastern states and Delhi. The rest came from Kolkata, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andaman.

About 60 books of poetry in Bengali, Assamese, Hindi, Oriya and Malayalam languages were unveiled at the event. Among the poets, women participation was more. Each poet recited a poem of value.

At the beginning of the program, an artist group from Assam performed Odissi dance. Then a dance of Rabindranath Tagore was also performed.

The characteristic of this colourful program was to break the barriers of religion and language and create a pattern of national unity. Authors of books of poetry are also welcomed with commemorative honours.

Pragya Mail’s Editor-in-Chief Arun Burman, Azir Kavita’s Editor-in-Chief Binay Chaliha, Hindi Journalist Ashish Saxena were honoured at the event. Dance guru Tapas Debnath and many more prestigious personalities were present to grace the event.

Poets from different states were ecstatic to see Rabindra Tirtha and enjoy the cultural land of Bengal .
