Director Matt Reeves has officially confirmed that Hollywood actors Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan will join the cast of The Batman: Part II, adding major star power to the highly anticipated sequel starring Robert Pattinson as Batman.
The announcement ends months of speculation surrounding the casting of the sequel and signals a significant expansion of Reeves’ darker and more grounded version of Gotham City. Reports suggest that Sebastian Stan will portray Harvey Dent, Gotham’s district attorney who eventually becomes the iconic Batman villain Two-Face. Scarlett Johansson is widely expected to play Gilda Dent, Harvey Dent’s wife, although her role has not yet been officially detailed by the studio.
The sequel will also introduce several other new faces to the franchise. Veteran actor Charles Dance is reportedly set to portray Christopher Dent, Harvey Dent’s father. Actors Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch have also joined the expanding cast, further strengthening the film’s ensemble lineup.
Returning cast members include Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne and Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell as Penguin. The sequel is expected to continue exploring the aftermath of the events shown in the 2022 film and the Penguin spin-off series.
Reports indicate that Reeves plans to focus more deeply on Bruce Wayne’s emotional struggles and Gotham’s corruption in the sequel. Industry observers believe the film may draw inspiration from classic Batman comic storylines such as “The Long Halloween,” particularly with the introduction of Harvey Dent and the gradual development of his transformation into Two-Face.
The casting of Johansson and Stan has generated considerable excitement among fans, especially because both actors are widely known for their work in Marvel films. Their entry into the DC universe has sparked speculation about how Reeves will reinterpret classic Batman characters within his darker and more psychological storytelling style. The Batman: Part II is currently one of the most anticipated upcoming superhero films, with fans eagerly awaiting further details about the storyline and production timeline.
