In a joint press conference with CAPF, Ajay Nand, Commissioner of Kolkata Police, announced stringent measures to maintain law and order following the elections.

He stated that the voting process was conducted peacefully, with no major incidents of intimidation or violence. “The voter turnout itself reflects the peaceful environment, and we are committed to maintaining the same in the coming days,” he said, urging citizens not to pay heed to rumours.

Highlighting the security deployment, officials confirmed that 65 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 240 Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been stationed across the city, along with 44 active motorcycle patrol units.

The Commissioner made it clear that no procession or rally will be allowed without prior police permission. Specifically, rallies involving JCB machines have been strictly prohibited, and owners have been warned against providing such equipment, failing which strict action will be taken.

An integrated control room has been established in coordination with CAPF to monitor the situation. Authorities also reported that around 80 individuals have been arrested in connection with isolated incidents, and a special drive is underway to prevent any unrest.
