Ghatal, : West Bengal : In a significant effort to support hemophilia patients across West Medinipur, the Women’s Group of the Hemophilia Society (Kharagpur Chapter) organized a successful Hemophilia Awareness Camp at Kushpata, Ghatal, in West Bengal . The event saw an overwhelming response, with Fifty-four patients suffering from hemophilia from the West Medinipur district attended this awareness camp.

The camp offered free inhibitor testing (blood tests) for 46 patients, ensuring early detection of complications, while Anti-Hemophilia Factor (AHF) was distributed at no cost to 53 individuals. Such initiatives are crucial in rural areas, where access to specialized treatment remains limited.
Somnath Bhuiya, President of the Hemophilia Society (Kharagpur Chapter), emphasized the importance of community-driven healthcare. “Many patients suffer silently due to lack of awareness and affordability. Today’s camp is a step toward bridging that gap,” he stated.
Trisha Dolai, Women’s Group Coordinator, highlighted the role of women caregivers in managing hemophilia. “Families, especially mothers, bear the emotional and financial burden. Empowering them with knowledge is key to long-term care,” she added.
Prashanta Kumar Sana (Secretary) of the society, acknowledged their contribution, calling for more collaborations to expand such programs.
The Intus Foundation played a pivotal role in supporting the event.
The camp concluded with interactive sessions where patients and families shared experiences, fostering a sense of solidarity. Plans and testing units were announced, aiming to reach even the remotest corners of the district.
