Kolkata Police Arrest Man with Over One Crore Worth of Gold and Diamond Jewellery at Airport

Kolkata : In a significant bust at Kolkata Airport, police have arrested a man found in possession of gold and diamond Jewellery valued at more than one crore rupees. The precious items were recovered from a domestic cargo shipment, raising suspicions about smuggling activities.

According to police sources from the Bidhannagar Commissionerate, the jewellery included gold and diamond bracelets, necklaces, rings, bangles, and other assorted pieces. The goods arrived at Kolkata Airport through domestic cargo services.

The incident unfolded when the receiver of the shipment came to collect the jewellery. Police personnel on duty grew suspicious and kept a close watch. When the person attempted to leave the airport carrying the jewellery on a scooter, he was stopped during a naka checking by officers from the NSCBI police station.

Senior officials, including the ACP DD-O of Bidhannagar Commissionerate, promptly arrived at the scene. The suspect was caught red-handed with the valuable consignment. He is currently undergoing interrogation as authorities investigate the origin of the jewellery and the intended destination.

The police are working to uncover the full details of this case and have stated that the arrested individual will be presented in court.
