Bengal CM Vows to Uproot ‘Azadi’ Slogans at Jadavpur University

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on September 9 vowed to “uproot” forces raising slogans such as “Kashmir Mange Azadi” and “red salute” at Jadavpur University. He made the remarks while leading a three-kilometre ‘Gerua Samman Yatra’ from Golpark to the university, joined by BJP workers, monks and Naga sadhus. Adhikari said he would not tolerate what he described as an insult to the saffron colour and announced plans for further programmes featuring Gita and Hanuman Chalisa recitations. The march came amid escalating political tensions on the campus, including clashes, graffiti and competing slogans involving Left-backed student groups and the ABVP. The Chief Minister also backed proposed legislation concerning university and college administration.
