Kharagpur Division Organises Weekly Fire Fighting and Fire Safety Training for 7th batch of Frontline Railway Staff

Kharagpur : Kharagpur Division is organising the weekly “Fire Fighting and Fire Safety” training programme at RPF/Zonal Training Institute (ZTI), Kharagpur, with the objective of enhancing the fire safety preparedness and emergency response capabilities of frontline railway personnel.

The training programme is being organised for Commercial staff working in the field, Railway staff working in the Divisional Office, outsourcing staff, and members of St. John Ambulance Brigade, South Eastern Railway, Kharagpur. The programme is being conducted in coordination with expert faculty provided by the Divisional Fire Officer, West Bengal Fire Service, West Midnapore.

The weekly training programme is being conducted every Monday from 10 August 2026 to 12 October 2026. The initiative is aimed at providing participants with practical, hands-on training in fire prevention, fire-fighting techniques and appropriate response during fire-related emergencies. Today the 7th batch of frontline staff received their Fire Fighting and Fire Safety training at Kharagpur.

During the sessions, participants are trained in the identification of potential fire hazards, basic fire safety precautions, selection and safe handling of fire extinguishers, initial response to fire incidents, evacuation procedures and other essential fire-fighting techniques. Practical demonstrations will enable frontline staff to gain confidence in responding promptly and effectively during an emergency.

The programme is part of Kharagpur Division’s continued efforts towards capacity building of frontline personnel and strengthening safety preparedness at railway premises. By equipping staff with practical fire-fighting skills, the initiative seeks to ensure a faster and more effective response to fire emergencies and enhance the overall safety of passengers, railway employees and railway assets.
